Use Restream Studio to stream vertically to platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, while maintaining a horizontal layout for your other channels - all in one session.

Enable dual output in Studio

  1. From the home screen, open any Studio draft.

  2. In the orientation switcher, select Landscape + Portrait.

  3. Your canvas will split into two previews that will show how your stream will look on each platform: Portrait (vertical) and Landscape (horizontal).

Assign channels to vertical or horizontal

  1. At the top of Studio, click the mobile/desktop icons to open your Channels menu.

  2. Use the dropdown next to each channel to select Landscape or Portrait. Your changes will save automatically.

💡 Make sure the channel orientation is set before you go live. You won’t be able to change it during the stream.

Design your dual stream layout

When working in both vertical and horizontal modes, any changes you make to your stream elements apply to both orientations simultaneously:

  • Add overlays, graphics, and text from the sidebar or directly on the canvas.

  • All elements appear in both Portrait and Landscape views automatically.

  • Portrait and Landscape views may display elements differently due to the different aspect ratios and available space.

Going live with dual output

  1. Once you've set up your channels and layout, click Go Live.

  2. Your stream will broadcast to Portrait channels in 9:16 format and Landscape channels in 16:9 format simultaneously.

  3. Once you're live, both Portrait and Landscape previews remain visible on your canvas. This lets you monitor how your stream appears to viewers on your different platforms.

If you're streaming with guests, they'll see the same dual mode that you do.

  4. If you want, you can click the - icon next to your portrait view to minimize it.

💡 You can add new channels with any orientation mid-stream, or toggle active channels off, but you cannot change an active channel's orientation while streaming.

FAQ

Can I use different overlays or graphics for Portrait and Landscape?

Not currently. All overlay elements and graphics are shared between both orientations. Changes you make appear in both Portrait and Landscape views simultaneously.

Will both my horizontal and vertical layouts be recorded?

Yes. You will be able to access both recordings from your video storage.

Can I use dual output with paired channels?

Dual output does not currently support paired channels. Paired channels will always receive the primary landscape stream.
