In this article, you will see an example of adding a free Text To Speech Engine to Restream Chat Application to enable it to read incoming messages.

1. The first thing to do is download and install the Speech Platform from Microsoft website.

Select x64_SpeechPlatformRuntime\SpeechPlatformRuntime.msi and install it.

2. Next download Voice Packs for your language if it's not English. In our example we will be adding Russian Elena voice:

Install it and reboot your PC.
3. Now we're going to edit registry.
Press Win+R on your keyboard and enter "regedit"

Go to:
> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech Server\v11.0\Voices
Right click Tokens and choose Export. Save the file as voices1.reg

Do the same for Tokens directory in:
> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Speech Server\v11.0\Voices
Save the file as voices2.reg

At the end you will have 2 files:

For both files do the following:

In Sublime Text or any other advanced text editor of your choice.
Press Ctrl+H and enter to the Find field:
\Speech Server\v11.0\
To the Replace field enter:

Press "Replace All" button, then save both files.

Run both files by doubleclicking on each, and confirm changes to registry.

4. Go to Restream Chat settings and enable your new TTS reader
