Upload a video file directly from your device's storage and play it on your stream.


How to add a local video file to your stream

  1. Click Add Scene in Restream Studio.

  2. Select Media.

  3. Click the + icon and select Local Video.

  4. Choose the video you want from your device's files and click Open.

  5. Your video will appear in your new Scene.


Requirements

  • The local video feature is available even with a free plan.

  • You can play one local video file at a time in Studio.

  • We recommend using a powerful computer for optimal results.

  • Chrome is the preferred browser for Restream Studio.

  • If your device does not have enough power to support sharing a local video, we recommend playing a video from your Restream storage.


FAQ

Do I get any playback controls for local videos?

Yes. With a local video, you can:

  • Pause/play the video.

  • Scroll through the video.

  • Loop the video to continue playing from the top after it's over.

  • Maximize the video.

  • Replace/hide it from the stream.

  • Adjust volume and/or provide live commentary.

How can I remove a local video?

To remove the video from a scene but keep it in the background:

  • Hover over the local video on your stream preview, click the three dots, and select Hide.

  • Or click Sources on the right side of your screen and toggle off the local video.

To fully remove the video from your Studio, click Sources, click the three dots next to the local video and select Remove source.
