Take advantage of your mobile devices and use their screens for an extra point of view.


How to screen share an iOS device on macOS

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac with a USB cable.

  2. Open the QuickTime Player app on Mac.

  3. Click File at the top left corner of your screen.

  4. Select New Movie Recording.

  5. Click the dropdown arrow in the player controls.

  6. Under Screen, select your iPhone or iPad.

  7. Leave the QuickTime Player window open and go to Restream Studio.

  8. Click Add Scene and select Media.

  9. Click Screen, go to Window, and select Movie Recording.

  10. Click Share and your iPhone/iPad screen will appear in Studio.


Requirements

  • Screen sharing is only possible on desktop browsers, not mobile ones, so your phone or tablet must be connected to your desktop.

  • QuickTime Player is one of your Mac's default apps, you don't have to download it.


FAQ

How can I remove a shared screen?

To remove the shared screen from a scene but keep it in the background:

  • Hover over the shared screen on your stream preview, click the three dots, and select Hide.

  • Or click Sources on the right side of your screen and toggle off the shared screen.

To fully remove the shared screen from your Studio, click Sources, click the three dots next to the shared screen and select Remove source.

Can guests mirror their phone/tablet when screen sharing too?

Of course. You can learn more about what your guests can do in Studio here.

While setting up their shared screen, they'd have to follow the same steps with this guide on their devices. Then, you'll be able to add their input to the stream.
