How to add a Facebook Profile

  1. From your home screen, click the Destinations button.

  2. Click Add Channels.

  3. Select Facebook.

  4. Click Profile from the channel options.

  5. Follow the prompts and allow Restream to access your Facebook account.

  6. Your profile is ready to stream - you just need to choose how you'll go live.


Requirements

  • Starting June 10th, 2024, Meta requires Facebook accounts to be at least 60 days old to go live. Additionally, profiles in professional mode need at least 100 followers.

  • Facebook's maximum stream length is 8 hours.

  • Streaming to your Facebook profile is free.

  • Facebook has the following recommended stream settings:

    Video Guidelines

    • Resolution: Up to 1920 × 1080

    • FPS: max 60

    • Codec: H.264 (x264)

    • Mode: Strict CBR

    • Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds (recommended), max 4

    • Max Bitrate: 15,000 Kbps, adjust based on your resolution

    Audio Guidelines

    • Codec: AAC, Stereo

    • Max Bitrate: 128 Kbps (recommended), max 256 Kbps

    • Sampling Rate: 44.1 Khz or 48 Khz


FAQ

Why am I connecting to the wrong profile?

Restream connects to the profile saved under your browser by default. To add a different profile, make sure you're logged into the desired Facebook account.

Alternatively, use an incognito window to connect without relying on browser-saved profiles.

Why isn't my profile's stream public?

The visibility of your streams depends on your privacy settings.

To make future streams public:

  1. On Facebook, go to your business integrations settings.

  2. Click View and edit next to Restream.io.

  3. Scroll to Who can see you use this business integration? and select Public.

  4. Then click Save.

To make a running live stream public:

  1. Go to your stream on Facebook.

  2. Click the Privacy icon for the post and change it to Public.
