If you ever wanted to customize your chat appearance on your stream, you probably know that you can select from multiple themes Restream Chat offers. But there are situations when you don't like something or can't get a chat theme that would fit your needs. This is what the Custom CSS option is used for. It's available in most encoders and lets you modify individual elements of your chat to your liking.

How to remove "The chat is ready to display messages"

To remove the default message showing on your embed chat, add the following code to the Custom CSS location of your Encoder/Broadcast software.

How to edit a theme

1) To start editing a theme you need to find its description in the CSS file.

5) In the expanded code, you can find the required fields that you want to adjust such as text colour, background images, or icons.

If we want to change message text formatting, we go to message-text element description and copy it to the Custom CSS field in the browser source of your encoder:

You can remove all unnecessary fields and only leave the ones you want to change. For instance, we can switch text colour to yellow by leaving the colour value equal to FFFF00.
