I can't share my screen in Studio

Identify and resolve any issues that affect sharing your screen in Studio.

Screensharing issues can quickly be fixed within your browser and operating system.


Check your operating system and browser

For Windows

  1. Confirm you're using the latest version of your browser and update if necessary.

  2. Disable ad blockers and all extensions that may be interfering with your setup.

  3. Try an alternative browser; Chrome is our recommended one for Studio.

For Mac

  1. Click Privacy & Security in your System Settings.

  2. Under the Privacy menu, click Screen & System Audio Recording.

  3. Toggle on your browser of choice (e.g. Chrome) in that section.

  4. You may be asked to quit and re-open the application for permission to update.

  5. If you're on Safari, go to Studio and click Safari in the top left corner of your screen.

  6. Select "Settings for studio.restream.io".

  7. Make sure Screen Sharing is set to Ask.


Check the window you are trying to share

If you're trying to screen share a specific application window, you may not see it as a selectable option on some operating systems and browsers if it's in full-screen mode.

Try exiting full screen and opt for "Full Window" or “Windowed mode” instead to ensure smooth screen sharing.
