What you can do as a guest in Restream Studio

Discover the Studio features that are available for Guests to use.

Guests in Studio can be actively involved in the show and participate in exciting ways.


How you can participate as a Guest

Once you have followed the instructions to enter the Studio, you have quite a few tools.

1. Basic Settings

Click the gear ⚙️ icon under the preview window to set up your audio and video. You can also optionally set up a virtual background.

You'll be able to turn on your camera and microphone under the stream preview. If you don't want to be on camera, you can join with just audio or use an image as your avatar.

2. Screen sharing

Click Share screen under the preview window to share a browser tab, a window, or your entire screen. Once you click Share, the host can show the screen on the stream.

3. Presentations

Click the ➕ plus icon under the preview window and choose Presentations to upload or import a file. Once you click Present on your file, the host can show it on the stream.

4. Extra camera

Click the ➕ plus icon under the preview and choose Extra Camera to set up an additional video input. Once you click Add Camera, the host can show it on the stream.

5. Private Chat

A private chat tab is located at the bottom of your screen; use it to privately exchange messages with the host and other guests. This chat will not be visible to the viewers.

6. Incoming Chat

On the right-hand side of your Studio, you will be able to see any messages that come from the audience through the stream's connected channels.


Requirements

  • Pick the right browser for your operating system:

    • Windows, macOS, and Linux: Chrome (recommended), Firefox, Arc, Edge, Safari (least preferred).

    • Android: Chrome (recommended), Firefox.

    • iOS: Safari 14+

  • Keep your browser updated to the latest version.

  • Avoid ad blockers and browser extensions that may interfere with your setup.


FAQ

Can I also control slides in a presentation the host/another guest has uploaded?

Yes, if the host has enabled you to control presentations in their Studio settings. To switch slides from the presentation, just hover over the preview in Studio and click on the arrows that will appear.
