Streaming to Restream from Microsoft Teams lets you rebroadcast your meeting to multiple platforms like LinkedIn and YouTube and reach a larger audience.
How to enable live streaming for Teams
A Teams Administrator will need to complete the following steps:
Go to your Microsoft Teams admin center.
Click Show all on the left-side panel.
Select Meetings.
Click Meeting policies.
Click Global (Org-wide) default from the policies.
This policy allows everyone to broadcast and live stream. Alternatively, you can select another policy for specific users.
Scroll down to Audio & video.
Set Broadcast production with NDI and SDI hardware to "On".
Set Live streaming to "On".
Click Save and then Confirm.
Connect your Teams meeting to Restream
Join the meeting you wish to live stream.
Click Apps and locate the one called Customised Streaming.
Click Add and Save to add it to the meeting.
Open your Restream home screen in a separate tab.
Click New Stream and select RTMP | Encoder.
💡 If you have already created your RTMP stream, click RTMP Setup on the existing stream card.
Copy your RTMP URL and stream key from Restream.
Go back to Teams and paste the RTMP details into the appropriate fields on the Custom Streaming sidebar.
Click Start streaming and then Allow.
Restream will automatically send your Teams meeting to your preferred channels.
When you're ready to end the stream, click Stop streaming.
Requirements
If you’re having trouble starting your stream on the Teams app, please try using the browser version instead.
You can only broadcast Teams meetings, not live events. For information on streaming to a live event, please refer to this guide instead.
Monitoring your stream
Once you've initiated your broadcast via Team, you can go back to your home screen on Restream and click View Stream under your RTMP stream card. From there, you can oversee your stream's performance, manage the channels you're streaming to, and keep an eye on viewer counts.
