Streaming to Restream from Microsoft Teams lets you rebroadcast your meeting to multiple platforms like LinkedIn and YouTube and reach a larger audience.

How to enable live streaming for Teams

A Teams Administrator will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Go to your Microsoft Teams admin center.

  2. Click Show all on the left-side panel.

  3. Select Meetings.

  4. Click Global (Org-wide) default from the policies.

This policy allows everyone to broadcast and live stream. Alternatively, you can select another policy for specific users.

  5. Scroll down to Audio & video.

  6. Set Broadcast production with NDI and SDI hardware to "On".

  7. Set Live streaming to "On".

  8. Click Save and then Confirm.

Connect your Teams meeting to Restream

  1. Join the meeting you wish to live stream.

  2. Click Apps and locate the one called Customised Streaming.

  3. Click Add and Save to add it to the meeting.

  4. Open Restream in a separate tab to gather your RTMP details.

    • For a scheduled Restream Event, go to your Events page and click RTMP Settings under that event.

    • For an instant stream, open this page to obtain your URL and stream key.

  5. Go back to Teams and paste the RTMP details into the appropriate fields on the Custom Streaming sidebar.

  6. Click Start streaming and then Allow.

  7. Restream will automatically send your Teams meeting to your preferred channels.

  8. When you're ready to end the stream, click Stop streaming.

  1. If you’re having trouble starting your stream on the Teams app, please try using the browser version instead.

  2. You can only broadcast Teams meetings, not live events. For information on streaming to a live event, please refer to this guide instead.

Monitoring your stream

Once you've initiated your broadcast via Teams, visit your Encoder page on Restream. Here, you can oversee your stream's performance, manage the channels you're streaming to, and keep an eye on viewer counts.

💡 Pull your Teams feed in Studio to take advantage of powerful graphics.
