Awkward noises and clicking sounds can be annoying - thankfully, you can fix them.

Check your settings

  1. Go to Restream Studio and click the gear ⚙️ icon under your stream preview.

  2. Go to Audio and click "Show advanced options".

  3. Disable echo cancellation and noise suppression, then enable stereo.

If you're using a microphone with advanced settings of its own or a mixer, adjusting these toggles helps avoid clashes between your device's settings and Studio ones.

Run an external test

  1. Record your audio externally; you can use our microphone test tool or this website.

  2. Compare the results between the quality you get in Studio and external tools.

    1. If the behaviour persists on both, it likely indicates an issue with the equipment. Consider consulting your hardware manufacturer.

    2. If the external recording sounds fine, proceed with the checks listed below.

Check your browser

  1. Confirm you're using the latest version of your browser and update if necessary.

  2. Disable ad blockers and all extensions that may be interfering with your setup.

  3. Try an alternative browser; Chrome is our recommended one for Studio.

Check your internet connection

  1. Run an internal speed test to check your upload speed to Restream servers.

We recommend at least 10 Mbps and ideally over 25 Mbps.

  2. If your upload speed appears too low, try rebooting your modem/router and using an ethernet cable for increased stability. Low speeds can affect your audio quality.

If an ethernet cable is not possible, move as close to the router as possible.

  3. If low speeds persist, consider contacting your ISP.

Check your CPU

  1. Start streaming or recording in Restream Studio.

    1. On Windows, press CTRL + Alt + Delete, then open Task Manager.

    2. On Mac, open your Launchpad and then the Activity Monitor.

  2. If your CPU usage is reaching 80%:

    1. Close unnecessary apps running in the background.

    2. If you're using a laptop, keep it plugged in.

    3. Reboot.

    4. Lower your resolution.

If overload persists, consider upgrading your device to one with more processing power.
