Degraded quality should never be the outcome in Studio streams - let's fix it.

Check your settings and equipment

  1. Go to Restream Studio and click the gear ⚙️ icon under your stream preview.

  2. Check the input under Live Stream Quality. If you're trying to do a 1080p stream, make sure you haven't set your quality to 720p.

  3. Make sure you are well-lit - good lighting will help improve the quality of your video.

  4. Confirm that the camera you're using supports higher qualities, like HD or Full HD.

Studio automatically sets your camera to the maximum available resolution based on your live stream quality setting but cannot exceed your hardware's capabilities. If your camera quality is below your desired output, consider upgrading.

Check your browser

  1. Confirm you're using the latest version of your browser and update if necessary.

  2. Disable ad blockers and all extensions that may be interfering with your setup.

  3. Try an alternative browser; Chrome is our recommended one for Studio.

Check your internet connection

Your upload speed may not be high enough to support your resolution.

  1. Run an internal speed test to check your upload speed to Restream servers.

We recommend at least 10 Mbps for HD and ideally over 25 Mbps for Full HD.

  2. If your speed isn't high enough for Full HD, try lowering the quality to HD.

  3. If your upload speed appears too low, try rebooting your modem/router and using an ethernet cable for increased stability.

If an ethernet cable is not possible, move as close to the router as possible.

  4. If low speeds persist, consider contacting your ISP.

Check if your device is overloaded

  1. Start streaming or recording in Restream Studio.

    1. On Windows, press CTRL + Alt + Delete, then open Task Manager.

    2. On Mac, open your Launchpad and then the Activity Monitor.

  2. If your CPU usage is reaching 80%:

    1. Close unnecessary apps running in the background.

    2. If you're using a laptop, keep it plugged in.

    3. Reboot.

    4. Lower your resolution.

If overload persists, consider upgrading your device to one with more processing power.
