Schedule your YouTube lives through Restream.

Creating events through Restream is the easiest way to schedule lives on YouTube.


How to schedule a YouTube live stream with Restream

  1. From your home screen, click New Stream.

  2. Choose how you want to stream: via our Studio, RTMP, Video File, or Playlist.

    1. For Studio and RTMP events, click the Schedule button on the next screen.

    2. For video files and playlists, follow the prompts to select the files for your event.

    💡 If you already have a stream setup that you would like to re-use, click the three dots on the existing stream card and select Schedule.

  3. Fill in your Event details like your title, description, date, and time.

    1. Check the box next to Create an event page on social platforms to notify your audience in advance with an event post on YouTube.

    2. Upload a thumbnail for the event.

  4. Toggle on YouTube and other platforms you want to stream to.

  5. Click Edit next to your YouTube channel to choose a category or adjust the privacy setting to public, private, or unlisted.

  6. Click Create Event.

    💡 Anyone who clicked 'Notify Me' on your event will receive a YouTube notification and an email when you go live.


Requirements

  • Restream Events are available for all plans, including the free tier.

  • Free users will have Restream branding on their event's thumbnail.

  • The announcement post box can only be checked during event creation. If you forgot to check it, delete the event and create a new one.

  • You can only go live to your YouTube event once, so don't click Go Live before the scheduled time. If you want to run tests, you can follow this guide.

Can I stream to an event I created on YouTube?

Yes, you can stream to an event you have already made on YouTube. Check out this guide on how to set it up.

What does "unlisted" mean for my event?

Setting your stream to "Unlisted" ensures it won't appear in search results or on your channel. Only individuals with the direct link can access it, which you can share with anyone, including those without a YouTube account.

How can I share a link to my event?

Click the channel icons under the created event, right-click "View on..." next to your YouTube channel, and copy the URL.

Does YouTube have any limits for titles, descriptions, or thumbnails?

The maximum title length is 100 characters, and the maximum description length is 5000 characters.

The recommended size for thumbnails is 1280x720.

Can I edit or rename my event after it has been created?

Yes. Click the three dots on your event card and select Edit event. Click Update Titles to update all channels in bulk, or click Edit next to a channel to update it individually.

Thumbnails can only be updated individually for each channel.

Can I reschedule my YouTube event through Restream?

Yes, click the pencil icon on your event card. Click Edit Event to adjust the date and time or click Unschedule to remove the event.

Does deleting the event on Restream delete the post on YouTube, too?

No, you’ll need to delete the event post on YouTube directly.

Deleting finished events on Restream will also not affect the streams and saved videos on YouTube.
