If you already have a YouTube event, connect it to Restream via our integration or as a custom RTMP channel.
What's the difference between the integration and a custom channel?
Adding your event through the YouTube integration will allow instant streaming.
This means you can send a spontaneous (not scheduled) stream to this destination via Restream Studio or software like OBS.
To connect your existing YouTube event to a scheduled stream created via Restream Events, you will need to add it as a custom RTMP channel.
How to add your event via the API integration
From your home screen, click the Destinations button.
Click Add Channels.
Click YouTube.
Choose Event from the options.
Select your YouTube account from the authorization page and click Allow.
You'll see a list of your channel's events - select the one you want to add.
Your event is now set as a destination - you just need to choose how you'll go live.
How to add your event as a Custom RTMP channel
Go to your YouTube Live Dashboard.
Click Manage on the left-side menu.
Click your event from the list.
Copy the stream URL and stream key for your event.
Make sure Enable Auto-start and Enable Auto-stop are turned on as shown above.
From your Restream home screen, click the Destinations button.
Click Add Channels and select Custom RTMP.
Paste the information you copied from YouTube into the relevant fields.
Click Add Channel, and your event will be saved as a streaming destination.
Use this destination for an instant stream or toggle it on under a Restream Event.
When you start streaming from Restream, your event will go live on YouTube.
Requirements
The YouTube API integration is available for free to all Restream users.
You will need a paid Restream plan to stream on Custom RTMP channels.
API-dependent features like Restream Chat and Analytics will not work for custom channels. Try using Restream Events for future streams.
If you disable auto-start under your YouTube event, you will need to click Go Live on YouTube after you start streaming from Restream.
If you disable auto-stop under your YouTube event, you will need to click End Live on YouTube after you stop streaming from Restream.
