If you already have a YouTube event, connect it to Restream via our integration or as a custom RTMP channel.
How to connect your event to Restream via the YouTube integration
First, make sure you've followed these steps to connect your channel to Restream.
From your home screen, click New Stream and select how you plan to go live.
💡 If you have already created your stream or if you'd like to re-use a previous stream, just click Enter Studio or RTMP Setup on the existing stream card.
In Restream Studio, click the Channels button at the top, toggle on your YouTube channel, and click Edit next to it. From the Event dropdown menu, select your scheduled YouTube event and click Save. Then, Save again.
Under the RTMP page, toggle on your YouTube channel on the right, click the three dots next to it, and click Edit channel. From the Event dropdown menu, select your scheduled YouTube event and click Save.
How to add your event as a Custom RTMP channel
Go to your YouTube Live Dashboard.
Click Manage on the left-side menu.
Click your event from the list.
Copy the stream URL and stream key for your event.
Make sure Enable Auto-start and Enable Auto-stop are turned on, as shown above.
From your Restream home screen, click the Channels button.
Click Add Channels and select Custom RTMP.
Paste the information you copied from YouTube into the relevant fields.
Click Add Channel, and your event will be saved as a streaming destination.
Toggle on this custom channel when you set up your stream.
When you start streaming from Restream, your event will go live on YouTube.
Requirements
The YouTube API integration is available for free to all Restream users.
You will need a paid Restream plan to stream on Custom RTMP channels.
API-dependent features like Restream Chat and Analytics will not work for custom channels. Try using Restream Events for future streams.
If you disable auto-start under your YouTube event, you will need to click Go Live on YouTube after you start streaming from Restream.
If you disable auto-stop under your YouTube event, you will need to click End Live on YouTube after you stop streaming from Restream.

Can I connect an existing YouTube event to a scheduled stream on Restream?
Yes, you can also connect an existing YouTube event to a scheduled stream, be it live or pre-recorded. To do so, follow the steps to set up a scheduled stream. When you reach the point of toggling on the channels for your event, click Edit next to YouTube, select the existing event from the dropdown menu, and click Save. Then, proceed to finish setting up your scheduled stream on Restream.
If you have already set up a scheduled stream on Restream, click the three dots on the event card on your home screen, select Edit event, and edit your YouTube channel in the same way.

Yes, you can connect a YouTube event to Restream even if your stream has already started. Just toggle on your YouTube channel in Restream, choose the event you want from the dropdown menu, and click Save.
To disconnect the event while live, toggle off your YouTube channel in Restream. If you want to stream to another event, simply toggle the YouTube channel back on and follow the same steps to select your new event. Note that you can only switch to a different event, not the one you’ve already streamed to.

Existing YouTube events do not support setting titles via Restream when they are connected manually (with a stream key).
You can update your title on YouTube directly under the event you created.
