Create an X Live Event with Restream

Schedule your X livestream through Restream.

Creating events through Restream is the easiest way to schedule lives on X.

How to schedule an X live stream with Restream

  1. From your home screen, click New Stream.

  2. Choose how you want to stream: via our Studio, RTMP, Video File, or Playlist.

    1. For Studio, add your name and click Enter Studio, then click the Schedule button at the top of the screen.

    2. For RTMP events, open the dropdown menu in the top left corner of your screen and click Schedule event.

    3. For video files and playlists, follow the prompts to select the files for your event.

      💡If you already have a stream setup that you would like to re-use, click the three dots on the existing stream card and select Schedule.

  3. Fill in your Event details like your title, description, date, and time.

    💡 After entering your stream title, click the AI button in the Title field. AI will analyze your title, suggest an optimized version, and automatically generate a stream description based on the information provided.

    1. Check the box next to Create an event post in advance to invite your audience to notify your audience in advance with an event post on YouTube.

    2. Upload a thumbnail for the event.

    3. Click Next, select channels

  4. Toggle on X and other platforms you want to stream to.

  5. Click Schedule.

💡 You can also add the event directly to your calendar. Click the three dots on the event card, then select Add to calendar.

Requirements

  • Restream Events are available for all plans, including the free tier.

  • Free users will have Restream branding on their event's thumbnail.

  • X requires a verified X Premium subscription to go live. You can learn more here.

  • The announcement post box can only be checked during event creation. If you forgot to check it, delete the event and create a new one.

  • You can only go live to your X event once, so don't click Go Live before the scheduled time.

FAQ

Can I stream to an event I created on X?

Yes, you can stream to an event you have already made on X Studio. Check out this guide on how to set it up.

How can I share a link to my event?

Click the channel icons on the created event, right-click "View on X" next to your X channel, and copy the URL.

Does X have any limits for titles or descriptions?

The maximum title length is 256 characters. Any description added on Restream will not appear on your X stream, but it's okay to have it; it won't break anything.

If I unschedule my event in Restream, will the post on X be removed?

No. Unscheduling an event in Restream does not automatically remove the announcement post on X. You'll need to delete it manually on X.

Can I edit or reschedule my event after creating it?

Yes. Click the three dots on your event card and select Edit event to update the title, description, time, or channels.
