Learn how to add your YouTube channel to Restream.

How to add your YouTube channel

  1. From your home screen, click the Destinations button.

  2. Click Add Channels.

  3. Click YouTube.

  4. Choose to connect your YouTube channel or a specific YouTube event.

  5. Select your YouTube account from the authorization page and click Allow.

  6. You will then be redirected back to the Restream home screen.

    • If you connect your channel, it will automatically be added to your list of destinations.

    • If you connect to a specific event, you'll see a list of your channel's events.

  7. Your YouTube is ready to stream - you just need to choose how you'll go live.


Requirements

  • Streaming must be enabled for your YouTube channel.
    YouTube requires you to verify your phone number and wait 24 hours until you can stream for the first time. Learn how to enable live streaming for your channel here.

  • You must be the owner of the YouTube channel you're adding, not a manager or editor.

  • ​YouTube has no stream duration limits, but will only archive streams under 12 hours.

  • The maximum title length is 100 characters. The maximum description length is 5000 characters.

  • YouTube has the following recommended stream settings:

    Video Guidelines

    • Codec: H.264

    • Resolution: 240p-2160p

    • Bitrate: 3,000-40,000 Kbps, depending on your resolution and FPS

    • FPS: up to 60

    • Rate Control: CBR

    • Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds (recommended), max 4 seconds

    Audio Guidelines

    • Codec: AAC or MP3

    • Bitrate: 128-Kbps for stereo or 384 Kbps for 5.1 surround sound

    • Sample rate: 44.1 KHz for stereo audio, 48 KHz for 5.1 surround sound


FAQ

Why is Restream connecting to the wrong YouTube channel?

Make sure you're choosing the correct Gmail account connected to your YouTube channel. If you have multiple, you may be selecting the wrong one.

Try connecting YouTube again through an incognito window in your browser to avoid connecting to a default account.

I'm verified for live streaming on YouTube, so why can't I go live?

Even if you've already enabled live streaming on YouTube, you still need to wait 24 hours to go live. Clicking "Go Live" directly on YouTube will prompt the countdown to begin. We have more info in this guide.
