  • If you see the message, "You can't go live on TikTok yet," it means you haven’t met TikTok's eligibility requirements for live streaming. You can try again and apply by following this link.

  • We recommend using Portrait Mode in Restream Studio - it's ideal for a vertical orientation on mobile platforms like TikTok.

  • We strongly recommend keeping the TikTok monitor open during your stream to stay engaged with chat, views, and follows.

  • You cannot update titles or thumbnails on TikTok once your stream has started.

  • TikTok has the following recommended stream settings:

    Maximum live stream duration
    60 minutes

FAQ

Can I set a "topic" for my TikTok stream on Restream?

Yes, just edit your TikTok channel and set a category for your stream. To edit your TikTok channel:

  1. Studio: Click Channels in the top-right corner and click Edit next to TikTok.

  2. RTMP: Click Channels on your right and click Edit next to TikTok.

You can also edit your TikTok channel individually while setting up a scheduled event or pre-recorded stream.

Why can't I stream via Restream if I'm able to go live on the app directly?

Even if you meet the requirements to go live on the mobile app, access to streaming to TikTok via Restream is not guaranteed. If TikTok doesn't initially approve you for streaming via Restream, you can try again by applying through this link.

Can I connect to TikTok with a stream key instead?

Yes, if you prefer or need to use a TikTok stream key, you can connect via a Custom RTMP channel.

When using this method, enabling the "End LIVE video if stream stops" button on TikTok will automatically end your live stream if the connection is interrupted.

What happens if I stream in landscape mode?

TikTok will automatically transcode your stream and add black margins at the top and bottom of your feed. That will make it appear centered without cutting off the edges.

Do I get stream recordings?

On paid plans, Restream generates a stream recording for you under your storage. Recording limits vary per plan.

TikTok also generates recordings. To access them, go to your profile on the mobile app and click the three horizontal lines in the top right corner. Select Creator tools and go to the LIVE tab. Scroll down and tap LIVE recordings. TikTok stores stream recordings for 30 days with options to download or repurpose them.

Is TikTok Live Studio the same as RTMP for streaming software like Restream?

TikTok Live Studio is TikTok's desktop streaming app, available for Windows. It lets TikTok users go live on a desktop instead of using the mobile app, but that happens natively on TikTok. It is not the same as gaining access to go live with Restream.

Is Tik Tok the same as TikTok?

Technically, it's "TikTok" (no space), but we know what you mean! We added this FAQ to make sure you find us, whether you type it with or without the space.
