With 2FA, access to your account requires a password, plus a second form of verification. This can help keep your account even more secure.

How 2FA works on Restream

Two-factor authentication increases your account's security by requiring a one-time key in addition to your regular password during login. Restream supports 2FA by generating such one-time keys through compatible apps.

That means that even if your main password is compromised, an attacker cannot log into your Restream account without access to your two-factor authentication setup and one-time key.

We recommend downloading one of the following apps to get started:

How to set up two-factor authentication

  1. Go to the Account tab under your Settings.

  2. Click Enable two-factor authentication.

  3. Scan the QR code with the Authenticator app on your phone.

  4. Alternatively, you can click "Show secret code" and enter that code in your app.

  5. Type the 6-digit code from the app under Two-factor code on Restream.

  6. Type your password.

  7. Click Submit.

  8. When you log in again, you will be asked to type your password and enter the one-time key that will be generated by your Authenticator app every few seconds.

Requirements

  • Write down the recovery code you'll get from the app and save it. This will be a backup method for retrieving your account if you lose access to your app or phone.

  • Our support team cannot guarantee that we will be able to retrieve your account if you don't save your recovery code.

  • One-time keys and passwords generated by your authenticator app will only work for a few seconds. Your recovery code, however, is static and will not change.
