Build your stream once and easily apply it every time you go live.

What are reusable streams?

A draft is a saved setup that you can reuse. Drafts show up as stream cards on your home screen, and a new card appears every time you schedule an event or create a new draft.

You can enter stream cards to set up your show and save your work in advance.

  • For Studio streams and Playlists, that means that you can set up your graphics and customize the look and flow of your stream.

  • For RTMP streams, this equals setting up your stream details and channels, as well as gathering your stream key.

Then, you can either schedule a live event for later or start streaming instantly.

When your show ends, your stream card stays—ready to be reused for your next show. Keep everything as is or use it as a base with some adjustments, like a new title, different scenes, or updated graphics and layouts.

How to reuse your stream setup

  1. From your home screen, click + New Stream to generate a new stream.

  2. Choose how you want to stream.

Reusing stream drafts currently works only for Studio, Playlists, and RTMP streams done via encoders. Support for pre-recorded videos is coming soon!

  3. Schedule your event or go live instantly.

  4. Once your stream ends, the card will remain on your home screen.

  5. To edit your draft and reuse it:

    1. Click Edit Playlist on the stream card of any Playlist.

    2. Click Enter Studio on the card of Studio streams.

    3. Click RTMP Setup on the card of RTMP streams.

  6. If you don’t want to make any adjustments to your setup, click the three dots on any card to schedule it again right from your home screen.

Requirements

  • This is a free feature available to all Restream users.

  • Reusing stream drafts currently works only for Studio 2.0, Playlists, and RTMP streams done via encoders.

  • For Studio, after a stream finishes, chat history will remain available until you leave the page. Chat will then reload and start over when you reuse your draft to schedule or start a new stream.

FAQ

Can I reuse events done with pre-recorded files?

Reusable stream drafts are currently available only for Studio, Playlists, and RTMP streams done via encoders. Support for video files is coming soon.

Until then, you can duplicate your finished streams and reuse their settings by:

  1. Going to Past streams,

  2. Clicking the three dots on the finished event card,

  3. Selecting Duplicate.

Can I reuse instant streams without scheduling an event?

Yes. Even if you go live instantly, we will create and save a stream draft on your home screen. You can then re-enter the Studio room or re-use the stream key of your RTMP draft and keep going live with the same setup over and over again.

If I leave a draft without scheduling or going live, will I lose my progress?

No, we will save a draft of the last state of your setup - the draft will be available on your home screen. From there, you can either enter the draft to continue making adjustments and schedule it or click the three dots and schedule it right from your home screen.

💡 Schedule recorded videos and run a perfect stream with server-side reliability.
