Use the Restream OBS Plugin to stream vertically to platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, while maintaining a horizontal layout for your other channels.
Get our plugin for vertical streaming
Make sure to have the latest version of OBS Studio on your device.
Install the plugin and open OBS.
You should see a new dock: Restream Vertical. You can always find it under the Docks menu in OBS.
Design your vertical scene in OBS
Go to Vertical Sources and add your camera (Video Capture Device). Adjust and transform the video as desired. You can add any source to the vertical layout.
Keep in mind:
The vertical stream always uses the primary OBS audio mixer (Mic/Aux). Separate audio inputs aren’t supported.
The vertical stream inherits encoding parameters from your main OBS settings.
You can set a separate bitrate for the vertical stream.
Streaming vertically via Restream
In OBS, go to Settings → Stream, and ensure that Service is set to Restream.io.
In the Restream app, open any RTMP stream setup, select a channel, and click Edit.
In your channel settings, set Stream input to Vertical.
💡 You can only adjust this setting before you start streaming, not while live.
💡 This setting is specific to your RTMP stream setup. Unless you update the channel settings during setup, the channel will remain set to vertical streaming by default.
Start streaming in OBS. Your stream will be delivered to this platform vertically.
💡 If you don’t use the OBS plugin and still keep the channel set to Vertical in Restream, your stream will automatically fall back to the primary Horizontal stream from your encoder.
Preview your vertical stream
Once your dual output stream starts, go to your home screen and open the RTMP setup you’re streaming to.
You’ll see Horizontal and Vertical tabs in the stream monitor.
The Vertical tab shows a live preview of your vertical stream and highlights the channels receiving it.
Each tab has its own stream monitor, so you can track both horizontal and vertical outputs separately.
