  10. When you start streaming, your preview will appear on the Facebook Live Producer.

  11. Click Go Live on Facebook, and the stream will show up on your group.

Requirements

  • You need a paid Restream plan to stream on Facebook Groups.

  • Groups require a manual setup, but Pages and Profiles are fully integrated.

  • Integration-dependent features like Chat and Analytics will not work for manually connected channels like Groups. You can view that data on Facebook directly.

  • Facebook's maximum stream length is 8 hours.

  • To create streams, you must enable the "Live videos" option in your Group settings.

FAQ

What does "Title setup isn't supported for the platform" mean?

This message will appear under any manually connected destination that uses a stream key to connect to the platform.

It's not an error but a warning to notify you that you cannot set your stream's title via Restream for the specific platform. In this case, that's because the title that will be used is already set on Facebook under the stream you created.

Can I create Facebook Events with Restream?

Groups require a manual setup because Facebook does not offer an integration for third-party apps, like Restream, to access them. For events in Groups, please follow this guide to connect an existing Facebook event to Restream.

For Pages and Profiles, you can use our event scheduling tool to create Facebook Events. When using our integration, you'll also get additional exciting features, like chat support and stream analytics.

What is a persistent stream key and how does it work?

A persistent stream key is reusable, meaning you can use it for every broadcast you do on your group without needing to update the key on Restream every time. You can only broadcast one video at a time with this key.

The persistent key can be enabled for your group and used for all types of streams, whether instant lives or scheduled events. To use your persistent stream key with instant streams, follow the steps shown above.

If you're using persistent keys with a scheduled event, keep in mind the following:

  1. If you disable "Go live automatically at scheduled start time", you'll need to click "Go live now" on your Facebook event after you start streaming from Restream. An internal preview of the stream will be sent to your event until you start streaming to your audience.

  2. If you enable "Go live automatically at scheduled start time", your broadcast will begin at your scheduled start time after you send Facebook your stream. In that case, start streaming a few minutes before the scheduled time so Facebook can automatically start your broadcast.

If you're scheduling multiple events in advance, we recommend using a persistent key with auto-start enabled or a unique key to tell them apart more easily. If you use a unique key, make sure to update it on Restream every time you go live.

What if I don't want to use a persistent stream key?

If you don't want to use a persistent stream key, you don't have to.

Without a persistent key, every live you create on your group will have a unique key. Just make sure to update the key on Restream every time you go live.
